Snow removal · Yakima Valley

Snow removal in Yakima: driveways, sidewalks and parking areas, cleared by the crew that built the edges.

Driveways, sidewalks and parking areas cleared through the winter.

Chapter 01

What gets cleared, and in what order

The work is driveways, sidewalks and parking areas, residential and commercial. On a snow morning the order matters more than the shovel count: business lots and the walks leading in from them come first, because people need to get inside by opening time, and residential drives follow.

Walks and entries get the same attention as the open lot. A parking area cleared right up to a doorway that nobody can reach is only half a job, so the paths people actually use are part of the route.

A winter route that respects the hardscape

Plowing near a property the crew built is different from plowing a blank lot. Concrete curbs, block planter walls, boulder borders and paver edges all sit exactly where snow gets pushed, and a careless pass can chip a curb or shove a wall out of line.

So the route is planned around what's there: where the drive meets the lawn, which beds have curbing, where the snow can pile without burying a shrub or blocking a sprinkler head. The crew that poured the edge knows where it stops.

Properties we didn't build get the same walk-through. A quick look at the curbs, walls and beds before the first storm tells us where to push and where not to.

Chapter 03

Set it up before the first storm

Snow service goes better when it's arranged before the season rather than the morning of a big storm. A visit in the fall lets the crew see the lot or drive, mark what needs protecting, and agree on which areas get cleared.

The properties we keep up

These are summer photos. The edges are the point.

We have no winter photos to show, so here are yards the crew built and looks after. Every curb, walkway and wall in them is something a snow route has to work around.
